Manufactured Statement of Origin

When a manufacturer produces a mobile home, they issue a Manufactured Statement of Origin (MSO), sometimes referred to as a Manufacturers Certificate of Origin. This official document is considered to be a “birth certificate” for a mobile home and contains information about the year model, manufacturer, model name, identification number, weight, etc.

The MSO is required to be filed with the state when applying for the first title. Please note that possessing a statement of origin for the mobile home is not enough for proof of ownership—a valid certificate of title is required. When transferring a mobile home from one party to another, the title must be properly re-assigned to the new owner to avoid ownership disputes and violating state law.
